This year I asked Santa for a Kindle for Christmas. I love to read and had been researching them for quite some time. I was as excited as a child with a new toy when I opened my Kindle 3G with WiFi. It was better than I imagined from reading about it online – so much so that I thought I would review Kindle 3 so those people who have been considering purchasing one through Amazon.com could get the opinion of someone who has actually used the Kindle.
Since this is my first electronic reader, I can’t make any comparisons. But I can say that since I received it, I haven’t been able to put it down. I will review Kindle 3 based on those features that may end up making me even more of a reader.

 The display
The E-ink technology is great. It looks just like the page of a book and since it is not LCD, it’s easy to read in harsh lighting and outside in the sun. But since it’s not LCD, it’s not backlit. For reading at night I use one of the leather covers you can buy through Amazon.com that has a built in reading light.

Font size
To review Kindle 3 you have to talk about the value of being able to change font settings. I’ve recently been faced with the inevitable declining eyesight when it comes to reading. The Kindle has solved this dilemma. You can set the font size to something that can make reading easier, depending on the lighting or how tired your eyes are.

Battery
If you keep the WiFi turned off, the battery will last about 30 days. Even with it on, you can get 10 hours of battery life. The battery is also very quick to recharge.

Size and Weight
To properly review Kindle 3 you have to talk about its size and weight. I would often get cramps in my hand while holding up a thick paperback or heavy hardback book. The kindle is just over a half a pound and is only one-third of an inch thick. This makes it easy to read one-handed. Even if you use the case, it’s so much more comfortable than a big, bulky book.
Building your book collection
With the free 3G + WiFi you can shop for books right away with no wireless setup. Once you find a book, it takes less than a minute to download to your Kindle and it holds up to 3,500 books. If you don’t want to shop using the Kindle interface you can hook it up to your computer and shop and download directly through Amazon.com.
There is so much more that could be said to review Kindle 3, like
One of the best things is just how quickly and fast you can get your Kindle through Amazon.com.
 - how easy it is to navigate
 - how quickly the pages turn
 - how quiet the buttons are
